Add in one of the lowest crime rates in the country (ranking #6), you’ve got the city coming in at #24 for Place overall. It has a diverse and well-educated population, ranking #25 in our Foreign Born category (nearly 19%) and #112 for Educational Attainment (nearly 21% of residents have a Bachelor’s degree or higher). In response to skills gaps identified by the St. Lucie Economic Development Committee and to boost interest in trades and manufacturing industries, the city is in the final stages of approving Somerset Career Academy Inc. The charter school would help train the local workforce to meet the demands of construction, manufacturing, healthcare—all growing industries here.
